Overview
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) Architecture Framework was initially released in August 2005.
It was based on the US Department of Defense’s Architecture Framework (DODAF) and amongst other things the MODAF introduced architecture views describing enterprise goals, capabilities needed and how projects acquire systems as solutions to the operational needs.
The MODAF is organised into 7 viewpoints, each of which contains several architecture views. There are 47 architecture views in MODAF*. The underlying metamodel that defines the allowed object types (stereotypes) and relationships is known as the M3 (Modaf Meta-Model).
