Comments
The following from MODAF explains the thinking in moving it from the NATO Capability View to the NATO Service-Oriented View:
From The
MODAF Service Oriented View (SOV) Viewpoint
27th November 2008 p9:
The NAF v3 equivalent view is NCV-7. The use of services in Strategic Views in MODAF is inappropriate, as Capabilities are supposed to be defined independently of how they are to be achieved; hence the mapping to capabilities sits more comfortably in the SOA Views.
Subject to Crown Copyright
This is a slightly odd argument since Services are themselves logical or implementation-free descriptions and the same stereotypes are still used. In a mapping sub/view it would be the consistency in direction of mapping that determines where the sub/view sits. Now we have a situation where the mapping is from capability
to service and yet the subview now sits in the service view.
