View NAF:NSV-2a System Port Specification Subview
Overview
The NSV-2a System Port Specification Subview is part of the NATO System View and 1 of the 4 forms of the NSV-2 Systems Communication Description Subview.
It is one of the 49 NATO Architecture Framework subviews*.
Version & Date
Version 3.1
* = changed at 3.1
+ = new at 3.1
The change history is derived from the definition of each NATO Architecture view within section 5.2.6 NATO System View (NSV)
in AC/322(SC/1-WG/1)N(2009)0005-ADD2. NATO Architecture Framework Version 3.1
document from https://www.nhqc3s.nato.int/Browser.asp?Target=_docs/NAF_v3_1 .
See NAF Release History.
Purpose
From the NATO Architecture Framework v3
, CHAPTER 4, Section 4.7.2.1
The purpose of a System Port Specification is to show the ports of a system and the protocols supported by each of those ports. An NSV-2a product is intended to provide a specification for how a client in the environment of a system can connect to that system.
Covered by NATO release conditions.
Description
From the NATO Architecture Framework v3
, CHAPTER 4, Section 4.7.2.1
An NSV-2a product specifies the ports on a system, and the protocols used by those ports when communicating with other systems.

Comments
This definition hasn’t changed from NAF 3.0 where only functional resources could have Resource Interactions. In NAF 3.1 any resource can now have a Resource Interaction - restricting the subview content to Systems and System Ports makes no sense whatsoever.
- identifies port name, protocol, physical port specification
- any protocol identified must be defined in the NTV-1 Technical Standards Profile Subview
